The Living Room
On a sunny Friday in October, we couldn't meet at the hall as the Holiday Club was finishing a week of activities for children during the half term school holiday so we decided to have a day out and as it was reasonably close we decided on a boat trip from Kingston to Hampton Court.
Setting off on the bus we arrived in Kingston, stopped for a coffee and cake before strolling along the Thames to buy our tickets to Hampton Court. Returning from Hampton Court with good views of the palace, lunch was eaten in the market square in the sunshine where we were spoiled for choice from the stalls.
Most of us chose a West Indian menu while others went Chinese or bananas and apples and
all very modestly priced. I usually see the market square in the early morning so never have the opportunity to see it so full of life and activity. We arrived back in Epsom in time for our usual going home time but without all the clearing up.
A great opportunity to get to know each other better but sadly some of our usual Friday visitors didn't feel able to come as they were not comfortable with going out. The hall provides a secure environment and shows the importance of being consistent in what we provide. Wouldn't it be great to be able to provide the Living Room every day but that requires a huge commitment from the church or other churches in Epsom taking on a day.
