Minister's Message January 2012

We live in a generation where many people are caught up in the Celebrity Culture. Those who have experienced there 15 minutes of TV fame, or those who are famous for being famous!

OK magazine and the like, thrive on celebrity gossip that feeds the minds of young and old, leaving them with false dreams, fake hopes and unfulfilled lives.

Reality shows and TV soaps move fantasy and fact ever closer together; illusion and delusion become close cousins.

Advertising too plays a big part in shaping the way we think. Try this and become sexier, do that and look younger.

Sadly for many, this seeping, creeping subliminal message creates low self esteem and pictures of poor image.

All of us are made in Gods image. God gave to us free will, moral awareness and the ability to hunger for Him. He gave to us significance and security. He built into us self worth. Sadly, original sin that entered the world has distorted that image. Only Jesus perfectly reflects Gods image.

The bible tells us that when we allow Christ to become our Saviour and Lord, when he begins to lead us by His Spirit, then our lives will begin to reflect the life of Jesus.

The traits and fruits of joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and above all, love, will shape us into his image.

Low esteem and poor image can become obsolete in our lives. Reality can be found in God through Jesus who died that we might become new people.
